Video section how to use

You may have noticed there are video thumbnails on the forum home page and the website home page. These thumbnails will take you to videos posted by members. There is also a link to the video section on the forum navigation bar "Video Gallery". The videos are organized there by categories. Members can post videos by linking to youtube and a few other video hosting services such as:

YouTube
YouTube HD
Metacafe
Veoh
flickr
myspace
Dailymotion
slideshare
google
yahoo

This doesn't mean that you should stop posting videos for discussion in threads. But if it's a good spearfishing or spearfishing related video consider adding it in the video section also. It's easy to do and will be better accessible for future viewing as well as enhance the forum. Videos in the video section can be commented on and rated.

How to add videos.

Click on the "Video Gallery" link in the forum navigation bar. This will take you to the video directory where you will see a list of Directory Categories on the left. Click on the category your video should go in. On the next page click the add video button.



You will then see an editor similar to when you write a post with areas to paste the direct link to your video, write the title, description and duration. Please keep the title short, 3 or 4 words. Click Add Video at the bottom and you're done.

I use the Mozilla Firefox browser. From time to time I take a look at the forum with IE (Internet Explorer) browser. I did so today and realized that I couldn't play in IE any of the videos in the Video Directory nor the ones embedded in normal posts. I then remembered that after recently reinstalling windows on my PC I forgot to install the Adobe Flash Player plugin. This plugin allows IE to play the videos. For convenience I uploaded the plugin HERE. For those of you who have had problems getting the videos to play, download and install the plugin. It's tiny, less than 2mb and installs quickly and easily.

Just reminding you guys about the video gallery. If you posted youtube video in a thread, you can also post it in the video gallery and it will appear in the video section to the left of the forum.
