Default float line?

I just bought my first float from a local guy but now I'm not sure what float line to use. Wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction or have suggestions.

Try using the search function with key words like; float line or floatline, you'll come up with threads like this http://www.freedivingspearfishing.co...-question.html

Depends on the fish you hunting, I don't like highly flexible cordage that wants to cling to and wrap my ankles. You can use any of the muliti strand lines and run a 5' vinyl tube over diver end to help prevent this.

I am concerned with visibility by boats over head as much as the strength of the float line.

You don't need to get very elaborate with a float line unless you trying to slow down monster fish or drag it through kelp or weed lines.

Cheers, Don

You may use a short bungie attached to the line to maximize the drag on bigger fish or to put some pressure on a holed up fish. That set up is called a "flungie" by the late Nathan Lee If you´re targeting bigger fish in open water a bungie is the way to go.

A float line too narrow is prone to entaglements, one too thick is a p.i.t.a. Make it in a bright color as Don previously stated, is a great way to locate a spearo from a boat.

John Hanson makes some nice float lines. I like 100+ feet of 3/8th vinyl tubing with a dyneema core for my neck of the woods. Lots of options available.
