El pez loro es una ficha clave para la formación de arena coralina
En menos de un año, tres embarcaciones han sido sorprendidas ejerciendo pesca ilegal en aguas jurisdiccionales de Colombia, pescando indiscriminadamente el pez loro, especie de gran importancia para las islas, no solo como producto marino comestible, sino porque es responsable directo del desarrollo sostenible de San Andrés y Providencia.

El pez loro es una ficha clave para la formación de arena coralina, por lo que su captura afecta los corales, los arrecifes y lógicamente la formación de arena.

El 95% del producto incautado a las embarcaciones sorprendidas pescando ilegalmente, pertenece al pez loro. Así lo explicó el secretario de agricultura y pesca, Clinton Pomare James.

Conocedora del tema, de la afectación y erosión de las playas, la ex directora de la Corporación Ambiental Coralina, June Marie Mow Robinson, dijo que hay que adelantar todo tipo de educación ambiental sobre la importancia del pez loro. “Hemos cometido muchos errores por desconocer cómo manejar una isla oceánica”, reiteró RCN Radio

ahh,, there it is,,,
that is a shamme they are being exploited there. I wish it were legal to catch them here in SOFLA they are large and plentiful
