December 24, 2010 - Over 3 tons of white fish were seized in two
type fishing boats Jamaican flag, which carried fishing trip in the waters
Colombian illegally in nearby Coral Quitasueño Bank, north of
Archipelago of San Andrés, a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Navy.
The incident occurred during the development of traffic control operations, maritime
part of the Naval Unit attached to the Guard Station of the Island of Providence,
which stood, thanks to information provided by the community and the fishing guild
area, craft "Lady Shina" and "7 Seas", with 19 and 14 crew on board
respectively, fishing in national waters without permits.
The motor boats were escorted by the Rapid Reaction Unit of the Navy until
San Andres Island, where he made the detailed verification of the same, finding
aboard about 3,506 kilos of white fish. During the administrative management of the two
vessels, at the height of the island of Providencia, in the midst of a replenishment
fuel, the crew tried to get rid of some equipment and gear,
material was immediately recovered by the military.
The catch was made available in the Secretariat of Agriculture and Fisheries,
the supervision of the Sustainable Development Corporation Archipelago "Coraline", and
crews of the two vessels available to the Administrative Department
Security - DAS, San Andrés sectional.
The Navy through its Marine units, exercises sovereignty in the jurisdiction
Specific Command of San Andres and Providencia, to ensure proper
exploitation of natural resources in the Sea Flower Biosphere Reserve, and invites the
timely community to continue to denounce the marine VHF channel 16 or toll free

INCAUTADAS MÁS DE TRES TONELADAS DE PESCA ILEGAL EN DOS BUQUES EXTRANJEROS QUE SE ENCONTRABAN EN AGUAS COLOMBIANAS.
24 de diciembre de 2010 - Más de 3 toneladas de pesca blanca, fueron incautadas en dos embarcaciones tipo pesquero de bandera Jamaiquina, que realizaban faena de pesca en aguas colombianas de manera ilegal, en cercanías al Banco Coralino de Quitasueño, al norte del Archipiélago de San Andrés, por una Unidad de Reacción Rápida de la Armada Nacional.
El hecho ocurrió durante el desarrollo de operaciones de control de tráfico marítimo por parte de la Unidad Naval adscrita a la Estación de Guardacostas de la Isla de Providencia, la cual ubicó, gracias a la información proporcionada por la comunidad y el gremio pesquero de la zona, las embarcaciones “Lady Shina” y “7 mares”, con 19 y 14 tripulantes a bordo respectivamente, pescando en aguas nacionales sin los permisos correspondientes.
Las motonaves, fueron escoltadas por la Unidad de Reacción Rápida de la Armada Nacional hasta la Isla San Andrés, en donde se efectuó la verificación detallada de las mismas, encontrando a bordo cerca de 3.506 kilos de pesca blanca. Durante la conducción administrativa de los dos buques, a la altura de la isla de Providencia, en medio de un reaprovisionamiento de combustible, los tripulantes intentaron deshacerse de algunos equipos y artes de pesca, material que fue inmediatamente recuperado por el personal militar.
La pesca fue puesta a disposición de la Secretaría Departamental de Agricultura y Pesca, con la supervisión de la Corporación del Desarrollo Sostenible del Archipiélago “Coralina”, y los tripulantes de las dos embarcaciones a disposición del Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad – DAS, seccional San Andrés.
La Armada Nacional a través de sus Unidades Marítimas, ejerce soberanía en la jurisdicción del Comando Especifico de San Andrés y Providencia, para garantizar el correcto aprovechamiento de los recursos naturales en la reserva de Biosfera Sea Flower, e invita a la comunidad a continuar denunciando oportunamente al canal VHF marino 16 o a la línea gratuita 146, cualquier situación irregular en la zona.
