Default Paint for boat motor cowling

What's a good paint for a motor cowling?

Car paint. I would use urethane.

automotive base/clear or a single stage automotive paint, either or would have to be professionally sprayed. stay away from the cans that they sell at marinas, they are junk

What's a cowling?

Make sure your motor has proper galvanic protection (sacrifice anode). And if it has it, make sure you don't paint it.
